a shift in perspective
Recently, I have been hearing the phrase “letting go of things that no longer serve you.” What first comes to my mind are things like relationships with toxic people, addictions to alcohol or drugs, life situations. Really big changes. Upon more reflection, I realize that on a more personal level there are many things you can look at with a more critical eye to see if they still serve you.
For example, in my life I tend to want everything I do to be perfect. It needs to work or unfold the way I designed it, or it needs to line up exactly. I actually waste energy tweaking it until it’s "just right." At the end of the day, I have used up time and energy in a way that could be more productive. Why does it have to be perfect? Just do it. If I put my best effort forth every time, I can save that “perfection” energy into something more productive.
Small change with a significant difference. My focus is now on my accomplishments. And in a larger way, I have gained momentum and strength as I move forward with focus to build rather than perfect.
This shift in perspective has become a blessing.
